Privacy policy
Last updated: March 2026
BuildTab stores your data on your device. We don't collect it, we don't see it, we don't sell it. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. If you enable iCloud sync (a Pro feature), your data syncs through Apple's iCloud infrastructure — we still never see it.
What data BuildTab stores
BuildTab stores the information you enter into the app. This includes:
- Project names, categories, budgets, and status
- Expense entries including material names, quantities, costs, and usage amounts
- Materials library entries with default prices and units
- Photos you attach to projects (stored locally on your device)
- App preferences and settings
All of this data is created by you and stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We have no access to it.
What we don't collect
BuildTab does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
- Account credentials (there are no accounts)
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Location data
- Usage analytics or behavioural data
- Crash reports (unless you opt in to sharing with Apple through your device settings)
We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
iCloud sync
If you upgrade to BuildTab Pro, you can optionally enable iCloud sync to keep your data in sync across your iPhone and iPad. When enabled, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework.
This data is managed entirely by Apple under their privacy policy. We do not operate any servers and cannot access your iCloud data.
Third-party services
BuildTab uses the following Apple services only:
- StoreKit — to process the one-time Pro upgrade purchase through the App Store. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
- CloudKit — to sync data via iCloud (Pro feature, optional). Data stays within your personal iCloud account.
We do not use any other third-party services, SDKs, or APIs.
Data export and deletion
You can export your project data to CSV at any time from within the app (Pro feature). To delete your data, simply delete the app — all locally stored data is removed with it. If you have iCloud sync enabled, you can manage your iCloud storage through your device settings.
Children's privacy
BuildTab does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app does not require or collect personal information from any user of any age.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update this page with a new "last updated" date. Since we don't collect email addresses, this page is the primary way to communicate changes.

Australian Privacy Act
BuildTab is operated from Australia. As the app does not collect personal information, the obligations under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 are minimal. However, we are committed to transparency about our data practices and will comply with any applicable requirements.
GDPR (European Union)
BuildTab is available to users in the European Union. Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we note the following:
- Data controller: BuildTab (contact details below).
- Lawful basis: BuildTab does not collect or process personal data. All data you enter is stored locally on your device or in your personal iCloud account. We have no access to it and perform no processing.
- Data minimisation: The app collects no personal data beyond what you voluntarily enter for your own use. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no device identifiers collected.
- Your rights: Because we do not collect or hold any personal data, rights such as access, rectification, erasure, and portability are exercised directly on your device. You can export your data via CSV and delete it by removing the app. iCloud data can be managed through your Apple ID settings.
- Data transfers: We do not transfer data outside your device. If you enable iCloud sync, Apple may process your data in accordance with their own GDPR commitments and data processing agreements.
- No consent banner required: As BuildTab uses no tracking, analytics, or advertising services, no consent mechanism is necessary under GDPR or the ePrivacy Directive.
